While I burn through podcasts at an alarming rate, for some reason audiobooks take me much longer to finish. Maybe it’s because most of the time the shelf life of a podcast is short and the information isn’t as valuable. Or perhaps it’s because I get the dopamine satisfaction of completing something in an hour (usually less, since I've graduated to 2x speed) rather than eight or more. I have no idea. So when I hear that genial old man voice say, “Audible hopes you have enjoyed this book!” less than a week after starting, that must mean I liked it.
The Last Action Heroes was an audiobook I liked quite a bit.
Stallone, Shwarzenegger, Seagal, Norris, Chan, Van Damme, Lundgren, and Willis. These guys don’t even need first names, you don’t even have to seen one of their movies (I’ve never seen a Seagal movie) to feel the impact. These larger-than-life personalities, with their larger-than-life biceps, left an indelible impression on film history. For better or for worse, I suppose.
Before there were superheroes, there were action heroes and they were flesh and blood men.
