Everyone only gets one life. We may reinvent ourselves, or change careers, cut our hair, grow it long, or shave it off. We can devote ourselves to different diets, disciplers or demons. But no matter how many, how often, or how drastic our changes, we only get one life as surely as there are only 24 hours in a day.
Now, I do believe in eternal life through Jesus Christ, which gives me perspective and comfort here. In capital-E Eternity there will be time enough at last for many things I may not have time for now, and without a tragic, Twilight Zone twist. Still, it’s important to make the most of the time we are given here.
The clock is ticking and we all feel it. If you don’t now, you will. The first time you lose someone you love and always thought, irrationally, would always be there, you’ll sense your own mortality. The first time you have to accept that a truly once in a lifetime opportunity was missed and you won’t get another chance, the tick of the clock will grow in your mind....
