Well, the election didn’t go my way and there’s nothing I can do to change it. For the foreseeable future in Michigan it’s always Whitmer and never Christmas. We didn’t just codify Roe, we expanded on it to the point where countries known for human rites violations are going, “Daayyyuumm!” And the stage is set for voter fraud. It will take a generation or two to unmake this mess.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death” Proverbs 14:12
Packing my bags and moving to Florida isn’t an option right now, and I won’t just sit and stew. I can’t change my environment, but I can change myself. It’s one of the reasons why I started working out in the first place. At the end of the day, I live in my body and if it’s a nice place to be everything else is more tolerable. A nice house in a nice state doesn’t do me much good if I hurt all the time, mentally and physically.
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” Psalm 118:24
It’s a beautiful morning in Michigan and I’m looking forward to spending some time out in the sun later. I can walk for miles and not reget it later, and for that I am thankful. I’ve already been down in the basement for my Wednesday rehab and core workout, doing all that I can to keep everything running well. A trainer once told me that the core is the crankcase of the body. I don’t know anything about cars, but that sounds important.
Later I’ll write.
I’m working on a short story that affirms my values. There’s nothing wrong with escaping into the world of the imaginary if it inspires us to live better lives outside of it. Creating helps the creator and the audience, just like teaching causes the instructor to learn the content better than the student. Stories change the world, for good or evil, they have greater impact that elections ever will. The arts have been neglected for so long. People are hungry for real food and not the processed, artificial, junk they’ve been offered for so long.
Did anything really change yesterday?
An election wasn’t going to make you healthier. An election wasn’t going to improve the quality of our art. So it was always imperative that we keep working, on ourselves, on the culture, and praying for God’s quick return.
